  • You may need separate sediment prefilter so that charcoal filter doesn’t get clogged up.
  • Cannot change the PH balance of water.

  • Activated Silver Impregnated Charcoal - also called Chlorgon - adds chloramines exclusion and bacteria killing ability to the basic carbon
  • Micron Rating - has a micron rating of 1 or below which means it will inhibit deadly viruses and cysts as they are larger than this in size.

 

Charcoal filters are an excellent choice for a home water filter in order to be protected from contaminated water. They can be bought for a refillable pitcher or they can be mounted on the tap. They are one of the cheapest options for water filters and are very widely used. However if you get your water from a well, a charcoal filter is not recommended as bacteria could breed in your filter.
