It is true that teens want to lose weight and look good and feel good about their figures. However, the temptation of just lying on the bed doing nothing and eating delicious fat-rich food is just too strong.

The problem may not with teens’ desire to lose weight. It may have something to do with their motivation to lose weight.

Sometimes, motivations among teens are diminished because teens construe exercise as a chore. Something like an errand parents usually make teens does. If that’s the mindset then parents can say “Houston, we’ve got a problem.”

However, there’s an easy way to let teens let go of that perception. By keeping teens interested with sports!

There’s no need to force teens to go to the gym and do crunches. In fact, there are sports that are easy to learn and play. Single or dual sports such as badminton or table tennis are good sporting activities that they could venture into. Swimming is not bad either.

According to research, teens should increase their heart beats for about 20 minutes without stopping, at a minimum of three times a week. This activates the body in burning off excess fats and at the same time, prevents the unwanted fats from lodging themselves to the stomach or thigh area. That’s mostly the areas teens don’t want to look bloated.

Sometimes, teens may not be sports-minded and it would be a waste of time to push them forcefully into sports. Then simple exercises will do. Now, if teens did not do any strenuous forms of exercises before, then it is advisable not to surprise the body by immediately making a hundred sit-ups or push-ups. It would just strain the muscles and teens will tend to give up at the first attempt.

For a start, if the school is about two to three blocks away, then it would be nice to walk rather than riding a car. Walking can help lose weight, however small is that. It is better if teens have someone to walk to school with because it diverts the attention away from making a hundred or thousand steps.

As the popular saying goes, “misery loves company.” That can be applied for teens wanting to lose weight. It is nice to have someone one can talk too while doing sit-ups or jogging and walking in the part. It is even better if the companion also does exercising so that it will not be too strenuous or tiring to do the chore. Teens can arrange doing exercises three times a week so as not to overstrain the body.

In the end, perseverance is the key to losing weight. Some say it’s easier said than done but by following these advices, it may be the other way around.
