Belly flattening products abound nowadays. Turn on the television and you will definitely see products that promise to reduce fat when applied topically. You can rub all you want but what you get is firmer and smoother skin. Well, I am a firm believer in hard work. If you want to lose tummy fat, you have to take on a pro-active role. Tough love, you may call it. What I want to share just might change your life.
Number one: Move
As I have mentioned early on, quick fixes are made to available to us. Tempting as they sound, you are only cheating yourself. Sure you can cheat a bulging tummy by wearing a certain type of jeans. You are only kidding yourself. To lose tummy fat, you have to move. Here comes the dreaded word- exercise. Couch potatoes seem to have a life. But life is out there, not in front of your television. Walk or jog more. Take in the sights. You can also try jumping ropes. It will burn calories fast in your midsection. Challenge yourself more. Add miles to your jogging route or additional crunches. Your muscles will eventually get used to the routine. Varying the moves will help you to continually lose tummy fat. Strengthen your core. Pilates is a great workout that will make you lose tummy because like ballet, it focuses on your core.
Number two: Go lean
It is believed that carbohydrates are the enemy when it comes to dieting. The term "enemy" is too strong a word. Whole wheat grains are better than the refined, bleached ones. For some reason, they do not turn into belly fat. You should also have lean meats such as chicken and turkey. Foods rich in protein are more filling. Fortunately, your neighbourhood market is more likely to offer more lean cuts. Ask your butcher about it. Incorporate protein during your snack time. Instead of having snacks high on carbohydrates and sugar, chew on nuts like almonds and cashews.
Number three: Ban bad oil
Perhaps, fast food and chips require trans-fat to make them mighty tasty. Just a thought... Say good-bye to trans-oil. Switch to healthy ones such as olive or virgin coconut oil. Avoid fry-ups. Instead of frying, you can bake, roast or grill. Frying dries out the food anyway. With other methods of cooking, you will be eating a healthier and moister meat. Aside from losing fat in your tummy and other areas, your heart will break out into song. Removing bad oil in your diet will lessen the risks of getting heart disease.
Number four: Beer beware
Ahhh! Beer is so refreshing. It is always present at celebrations, a constant in parties and a fix in stressful times. But, a regular can of beer has 150 calories. Light beer is, well, 50 calories lighter. It adds up. It is not called a beer belly for nothing. If you want to lose tummy fat, you have to give up beer. If the mere thought of giving up beer is breaking your heart, then drink moderately. Do not binge. Lessen the amount of beer you drink or do so moderately. Why not switch to wine? Wine has only 70 calories. It is still an alcoholic beverage and is just as refreshing. Although limit it to a glass or two. Drinking should always be done in moderation.
Number five: Frankie says relax
Relaxation is not really up there when it comes to people’s list of priorities. Pausing is not bad. Read a book. Get a massage. We tend to do more damage with known ways of coping with stress. We drink to unwind. We smoke to get rid of anxiety. These habits contribute to the deterioration of our health. The clincher is this- a high stress level is commonly associated with high abdominal fat. Who would have thought that a certified way of losing tummy fat is by laughing? By sleeping eight hours a day? Reward yourself more! So this article is not all about tough love after all! Eat dark chocolate every day. Just an ounce, though. You can reward yourself with little things such as jewellery or tulips too. Take pleasure in the small things in life.
