Let me introduce this powerful method with some concepts:
• The essence of our being is love - our Higher Self is a spiritual being, and as such believes in a higher order of thinking - truth, honesty, love, and forgiveness. Our physical bodies are merely vehicles with which we connect and interact, but sometimes we forget that and take things at a physical, tangible level only. We ought to remember our true nature, which is loving and kind and non-judgemental.
• Health is inner peace, healing is letting go of fear - our true measure of health is how mentally peaceful we are, despite our circumstances. To heal we must release our attachment to fear, thus increasing our inner peace.
• We can let go of the past and the future - all of the best philosophies and theologies on the planet talk about living in the here and now - if we did that we would be happy. To feel any anger or sadness or guilt we need to jump into the past. To feel anxious or fearful we must look into the future. Yet feelings of passion, fun, peace, and happiness are all present tense.
Every minute we spend time travelling, we are blind to what’s really going on right here. Yet the past and future exist nowhere but in our own minds. They are not real, they are just internal representations. Hence the old adage “The past is history, the future a mystery. Now is a gift, that’s why its called the present”.
If the past is a source of pain, it’s not the events themselves that hurt, because they are over. It’s the afterimage of the events. And we can change that.
A BRIEF HISTORY OF TIME LINE THERAPY
1. ARISTOTLE - GREEK PHILOSOPHER IN 300 BC TALKED ABOUT “western minds represent time as a straight line upon which we stand with our gaze directed forward - before us we have the future, and behind us the past. The present is the point on which we are standing, the future is found on some point in front of us.” According to Aristotle, we must represent time by the image of a line
2. WILLIAM JAMES, THE FATHER OF MODERN DAY PSYCHOLOGY, wrote in 1890 in his book “Principles of Psychology” “consciousness was like a string of bead like sensations all separate” and “time is but a saddle back with a certain breadth of its own, on which we sit perched & from which we look in 2 directions in time. Date in time corresponds to direction in space. We represent the actual time-stream of our thinking by a horizontal line”
3. MILTON ERICKSON - The world’s greatest Hypnotherapist up until his death in 1980 - used hypnosis to age regress people and take them back to significant emotional evens in their past, so they could see them from a whole new perspective and let go of any old unresolved emotions. He had them look down at events from a distance & observe traumatic experiences from afar, and the emotions would disappear
4. In the eighties, Dr Tad James modelled Milton Erickson & applied a therapeutic process to the concept of an internal memory storage system. The result was a collection of techniques, which produces long-lasting transformation very quickly - faster than what is currently called Brief Therapy. These powerful Time Line Therapy™ techniques are becoming the method of choice to make fast, effective, long-term changes in behaviour.
Your "Time Line" is how you unconsciously store your memories or how you unconsciously know the difference between a memory from the past and a projection of the future. The Time Line Therapy™ process allows you to work at the unconscious level and release the effects of past negative experiences and change "inappropriate" programming in minutes rather than days, months or years.
