SAFE SUMMER
Summer is a fun time that can be packed with activities but it is also a time to be wary of preventable injuries and conditions.
In summer we have to be safe and aware regarding various things, for instance regarding the food we eat, the clothes we wear, our skin, etc. We have to be clean and make our surroundings clean or else there are many chances to get affected by diseases soon in this summer.
There are four food safety rules
- We have to be CLEAN: wash hands and surfaces often
- We have to Refrigerate promptly and be CHILL
- We have to COOK to proper temperatures
Eating well on outings
- It is better you don't start a strenuous activity on an empty stomach it is not healthy.
- If the activity is longer than three hours, try to bring along at least a snack.
- Bring foods that are easy to carry and provide plenty of energy, such as citrus fruits or carrot and turnip sticks.
- Drink more water..
Be Safe when Drinking
- Alcohol is a drug, so better avoid it it is not healthy.
- Alternate water, fresh juices or tender coconut instead of drinking alcohol.
When it comes to health only the most exotic products will do. Over the years, hip energy drinks, convenient diet sodas and flavors-rich fruit juices seemed to be edging out the far less coconut water. Tender coconut are more healthy. One of the most powerful of these is the good old tender coconut.
Be Safe in the Sun
We should be take more care of our skin.
- We should try to limit sun exposure by seeking shade.
- We should avoid going out during peak sun periods (11am - 3pm)
- We can take a cap or umbrella with us in sun
Dress "cool"
It is better to dress your child in cotton dress, better to avoid dressing very tight to prevent heat rash. This irritating, pimply skin eruption, also known as prickly heat, shows up most often in folds of the skin and where clothing fits snugly, including the back, chest, stomach, neck, crotch, and buttocks. On a very sunny day, keep your child inside or look for shady, breezy spots to play outside.
Let’s see more tips to be followed during summer
Mosquitoes breed in standing water. Stop the next generation of mosquitoes before they start by tipping over and changing out water from bird feeders and fountains. Toss out any open container from your yard that you can do without.
In this summer it is better to cook food at a high enough temperature to kill the bacteria that cause food-borne illness.
When cooking outside, wash your hands to fight with bacteria. Keep your utensils clean. It is advisable to wash them with hot, soapy water before preparing a meal.
Remember to refrigerate all left-over food promptly after grilling out. Refrigerators should be set no higher than 41 degrees Fahrenheit, freezer units at zero degrees Fahrenheit.
Be sure to use plenty of sunscreen, and apply it at least 30 minutes before going outside, so that your skin will be protected from sun rays.
The summer sun can damage your eyes. Be sure to wear only sunglasses that offer 100 percent UVA protection. It protects both your eyes and the sensitive skin around them
When you're working or playing hard in hot weather be sure to drink two to four glasses of cool water, fresh juices and tender coconut.
Avoid going out and do strenuous activity during the day when the temperature is at its hottest. It is better to avoid the hot sun.
Seek shade during the midday when UV rays are the strongest. Try to avoid direct sun exposure between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
