Meditation and a holistic lifestyle have become very popular in recent years, with more and more people seeking a solution to the fast pace of everyday life. However, many of those that practice meditation don't consider the barriers and distractions of modern society. Even the most experienced can lose focus in this speed-crazed mindset of modern life. Meditation is all about having a strong awareness of yourself and a healthy connection between your mind and body. Today’s culture seems to be moving far from this direction almost to a different system all together.

Today’s culture has an uncontrollable craving for activities and it seems the more the better. Many people remain distracted because of all these activities which in turn, make it even harder to tap into their body’s natural potential to break free. Stress is created when the mind is doing something else than what you are thinking about. If you are writing bills and your mind is wandering from cleaning the house and making dinner to completing a job, this my friend, is what causes stress. But, if your mind is focused and you are concentrating on what your body is doing, than you are going to be stress free.

This is one of the fundamentals of meditation.

Most meditation techniques assume that there is already a good connection between the mind and body. This kind of technique works well in a mountain monastery, but it can be difficult to achieve especially in our fast paced lifestyle. A good starting point is creating a strong mind and body connection. When you enter into the gateway of the mind and body, this should tap right into your senses. Try to strengthen the bond by focusing your attention on different levels. Look for different ways to enhance your focus, whether it is by textures, sounds, or scents.

You can experiment with simple and easy motions to help relax your body and to prepare yourself for meditation. These motions can focus the mind just enough to help you break away from the chain of random thoughts that come to you each day. Try thinking of running your hands through flowing water or through a fountain. You can try playing with something that has a smooth surface or by making shapes of clay or sand. You can also try flipping a smooth stick of wood or rolling it between your hands. Once you have unconnected from the hectic world, you can truly use your meditation time to its full potential. A more aware state of being will allow you to dive deeper into your inner self.

You may be astonished at what you can see with unclouded eyes.

Once a secret, unknown to the masses, performed by men who shaved their heads, wore long robes, and escaped society by living in the mountains. This quieting of the mind, stress removing, natural self-healing practice is starting to become popular. Corporations such as Deutsche Bank, Google, and Hughes Aircraft realize the natural powers and benefits of meditation and offer their employees classes.

The ability to quiet one’s mind and retreating to a worry free-state of mind where you are calm and free of thought is very beneficial. It opens a connection to a higher intelligence and it greatly enhances the ability to solve problems. With practice and coaching you can develop the ability to ask questions and receive answers to them in this state of mind.

The number of miracles that come from regular practice of meditation are unknown. Everything from loosing weight, to quitting smoking, making more money, to fixing relationships, and curing chronic illnesses, millions of miracles just like the ones I have listed are restored because of meditation.
