The Most Effective Way To Prevent Yeast Infection

As the old saying goes, "prevention is the best cure." Waiting until you develop a yeast infection to try to solve the problem can be a costly and frustrating experience. In this article, I will go over some preventive measures you can take to avoid getting a yeast infection. First, it is important to note that Candida, the organism which is present in yeast infections, enjoys being in areas which are warm and moist. This is precisely why most cases of infection occur in the vagina. One way to prevent an infection is by wearing clothes which are loose fitting. They should also be comprised of natural fibers.

Women will want to avoid wearing tight clothes and pantyhose as much as possible, as these can contribute to the development of a yeast infection. When you purchase panties or underwear, you should buy those that use cotton in the crotch area. If you start to develop the symptoms which are associated with a yeast infection, you will want to avoid using feminine hygiene tools, because they can block the useful bacteria which are present in the vagina. After you've been immersed in water, whether by swimming, bathing, or taking a shower, you will want to make sure your vaginal area is totally dry.

You should also avoid wearing wet clothes for extended periods of time. It should also be noted that certain seasons are more conducive to the development of yeast infections. For instance, a woman is much more likely to get an infection during the summer as opposed to the winter. However, even during the winter, if you're wearing a lot of clothes which restrict the release of perspiration, you can also develop an infection. As you can see, a critical factor in preventing a yeast infection is to keep your vaginal area dry at all times. It is the combination of a warm, moist area which leads to the development of the infection.

Practicing safe sex is another great way to prevent a yeast infection form occurring. Unless you're having sex with a single partner, you should always use protection at all costs, and if you don't use protection, you should make sure that both you and your partner are tested. If you have unprotected sex with someone who has a yeast infection, there is a good chance that you will contract it as well, especially if your immune system is not strong.
