How much do you weigh? It’s a question that makes everyone’s skin crawl after a certain age. Although most people do in fact know how much they weigh, or have an idea, no one likes to answer that question. With Americans and others all around the world having monumental weight increases, everyone seems unhappy with their weight. Even some of the healthiest people out there are ashamed of their bodies.
For some, that disappointment is enough of a motivation to change things. Some people are scared to death to actually face the number on the scale. But imagine taking your anxiety of letting people know how much you weigh and multiply it by a thousand. Imagine having to weigh yourself every week on national television and have all of America see the results. That’s what the contestants on the weight-loss reality television show The Biggest Loser have to do each week.
Not only do these contestants have to endure weekly weigh-ins, but they also have to face team competitions and run the risk of being eliminated if they don’t lose enough weight. Losing weight can be a very hard endeavor, but Biggest Loser takes a team approach. All of the contestants are placed on a team at the start of the show and each team is given their own personal trainer. Biggest Loser contestants spend hours a day working out and learning new ways to cook in a healthy way.
As in typical reality show fashion, Biggest Loser contestants are isolated during the competition process and it grows more and more important to stay on the show as long as you can. There is a final prize for the person that loses the highest percentage of body weight, but the life changing lessons that are learned while on the show are invaluable.
While you might not be interested in televising your weight-loss journey on national television, Biggest Loser offers programs for those that watch at home. The show also offers tons of motivation and real people getting real results. Biggest Loser might serve as the final motivating piece to your weight loss puzzle. Watching average people work so hard in the gym, struggle through temptations and triumph against the biggest scale you’ve ever seen is very captivating.
Watching people with the courage to lose weight on TV is a beautiful thing. And watching them do it with personal trainers that are relentless and push them over the edge makes it that much more real for those watching at home. Losing weight is something that can be difficult no matter how much weight you have to lose or what method you choose. Biggest Loser takes the approach of burning more calories than you take in. Although you might not have the advantages of those that are secluded on a ranch with access to personal trainers and shut off from fast food, there are great resources available to you.
