What Makes A Diet "Way Out There"?
Typical diets usually succeed because they cause some sort of stress on the bodies metabolism. This stress is caused by either a lack of calories, the introduction of a herb, an exercise regiment or a combination. This stress send the metabolism into a high alert level where it is forced to use up its stored fuel.
Everyone has a different metabolism. The metabolism system is responsible for dispensing and warehousing the bodies fuel. That simple fact is the basis of the unconventional, yet medically recognized weight loss method that is called "Calorie Shifting!"
How does metabolism cause weight gain?
Our food intake is analyzed by our metabolism. In short what happens is the metabolism gets Food (calories) as we eat. Since we settle into a pattern of eating, our metabolism know what to expect. It starts to store these calories as Fat. Fat is like compressed fuel. Once the fuel is compressed to fat, the body doesn't touch it until it is put into a state of stress.
Let's say you have a bowl of cereal in the morning, a sandwich for lunch and at night you have your big meal and you snack before you go to bed, your metabolism comes to expect that pattern. Because it anticipates the Fuel is coming it can use and store it very efficiently. That efficient storage is what causes fat build up on our body.
Putting the metabolism in a state of stress is can be done without starving the body, using pills or some heavy exercise regiment. When you starve the body of food and caloric intake, the metabolism immediately reacts and because you are not getting your normal intake of calories the body is forced to tap its reserves, fat! Pills usually speed up the metabolism giving it a false sense of urgency causing it to tap the reserves, fat! Obviously exercise does the same thing.
How does "Calorie Shifting" enable the metabolism to cause weight loss?
Calorie Shifting is a technique to keep the metabolism guessing about its fuel intake. The body takes about 2 weeks to adjust to any eating program. After that the body (metabolism) can predict what calories it needs to survive and how much it can store away. During this learning period the metabolism uses it reserves and flushes unused calories through the system until it can decide how to capitalize on the pattern. That ends up being the big factor. Calorie Shifting is really about shifting patterns. Eating a certain group of food for a couple of weeks and then changing to another type of foods for another 2 weeks. Also eating more meals in different patterns. Having a large meal at night, today and tomorrow have the large meal as your first meal.
Its not about eating less, its about eating differently than what we are use to. This keeps the body in learning mode for longer and thus it doesn't store as much fat.
