What Does Tap Water Contain?

Posted: Jul 05, 2009 | Comments: 0 | Views: 19 | Bookmark and Share

The answer to what does tap water contain, should be simple. Two hydrogen molecules bound to a single oxygen molecule or as we all know H2O. But, the answer is not so simple today.

At one time, not too long ago, an unbalanced mineral content was all anyone had to deal with. They had to buy water softeners when the calcium content was too high or deal with deposits, bad taste and unpleasant appearance.

When I was growing up, no one liked to drink city water, because of the unpleasant taste of chlorine. But, no one knew about the chlorination byproducts back then. Many of us drank mostly sodas and other beverages, because the taste was so unpleasant.

Those of us that were concerned about our health realized that water was the best beverage choice, but we were still worried about what does tap water contain. Along came the bottled beverage companies to give us another solution.

Pepsi, Coke and Nestle are the major companies behind all of those different brands that you see on the market. It became commonplace to pick up a case every time we went to the store. An item that used to be reserved for emergency situations and natural disasters became an everyday necessity.

As a result, bottled water is now a multi-billion dollar industry, the landfills are overflowing with plastic bottles, community supplies are being drained to keep the industry going and recently, we have learned that they are bottling our own water and selling it back to us. Luckily, there is an alternative solution.

You don’t have to worry about what does tap water contain and you don’t have to buy bottled, as long as you have an effective filtration system on your kitchen faucet. The right product will remove chlorine, chlorination byproducts, lead, VOCs, pesticides, herbicides, parasitic cysts and all of the other health hazards that are floating in your glass.

If you are currently buying bottled and you buy the right home water filter system, during the first year of use, you will save a thousand dollars. During the second year, you will save $1100. If you put the money in an interest bearing account, you can fund the kids’ college educations or your retirement.

Knowing what does tap water contain, you want to buy the right water purifying system, which is a multi-stage selective filtration device that DOES NOT include an expensive reverse osmosis step. It does include submicron filtration, granular carbon, an adsorptive block and an ion exchange step. Each step performs an important function or two for effective contaminant removal. Ion exchange also improves the taste, prevents hard water conditions, and balances the mineral content, as well as the pH level.

Recent news reports told us about prescription drugs in the water. Others informed us of the dangers of perchlorate, a VOC. Then, there were the ones advising that chlorination byproducts doubled our risk of bladder cancer. The right system will remove all of those things and you will never again have to worry about what does tap water contain or buy another plastic bottle.

The vast majority of the contamination of our water supply has come by our own actions however, and we don’t seem to be learning from our mistakes. Our water supply is filled with toxins that were invented, and used by man in our ever consistent attempt to make life easier for us.

Despite what the EPA and the water treatment facilities would like for you to think, water pollution control is virtually non-existent. They will tell you that they are keeping the water that enters your home safe for you to drink, but the truth is that they are simply waging a war against modern contaminants using antiquated equipment. The water they are sending you is simply not as pure as it should be.
