As our world becomes more polluted and contaminated, it is increasingly difficult to find clean and safe water to drink. It seems that finally people are concerned about the water purification process. We want to be able to provide our families with water that will not make them sick. If you have school age children, you want them to be drinking the safest water possible. A healthy child performs much better in school and as a parent; we must keep them as healthy as possible.

If we were to explain water purification, the simple fact is that it means removing the harmful organisms and chemicals before we actually drink it. The simplest water purification process is boiling the water. It must be brought to a full boil for up to seven minutes. The unfortunate aspect of this method is that the water does not taste particularly good. Sometimes, shaking the water in a bottle will put oxygen back into and improve the taste.

If you are planning a trip in the woods, never drink any water you find without first treating it with some form of water purification process. Even though it may look clean, fresh and safe, there is a good possibility that some microscopic organisms may be lurking in the water. Drinking untreated water could seriously ruin your wilderness vacation.

You do not need to explain water purification processes to an experienced camper. All it takes is one case of drinking bad water and you will not make the same mistake again. Even if the water is from a mountain fed spring, you still need to be careful. Many-experienced outdoorsman will carry iodine tablets to purify their water. Dropping one or two tablets into a quart of water will usually be sufficient. Shake the container and then wait for at least twenty minutes before drinking it. The water will be a darker color and taste a bit unpleasant.

In conclusion, we hope to have convinced you that any water purification process is better than no purification at all. However, you should seek the best possible manner in which to treat the water that you and your family drink.
