Anti-aging formulas are not the same as before, packing many more ingredients that boast incredible effects. This may seem overwhelming, but there are a few key ingredients that you should be looking out for especially to give you those results you want!

The primary reason of premature aging and skin damage is exposure to the harmful UV rays of the sun. This causes oxidization and inflammation of the skin, breaking down the structure of the skin, resulting in wrinkles, pigmentations, dryness, loss of skin elasticity and muscle tone.

Therefore, one of the most important ingredients is the anti-oxidant. These are important to combat free radical damage to your skin due to the sun, pollution and other environmental factors.

1. Vitamin C
One of the most common anti-aging ingredient, Vitamin C helps stimulate synthesis of collagen (connective tissue on the lower layers of our skin that helps give our skin strength and elasticity).

It also helps to regulate production of melanin (that causes dark spots on the face), to lighten hyperpigmentation so that the skin tone evens out.

2. Vitamin E
Another powerful anti-oxidant, Vitamin E lubricates the skin with natural emollients. When blended together with Vitamin C, it can also soothe dry skin and help protect against sun damage.

3. Idebenone
Idebenone helps shield our skin from environmental damage, improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, helps reduce dryness and smoothens skin texture. Idebenone is structurally similar to CoQ10.

4. DMAE
Better known as Deanol in Europe for more than thirty years, DMAE (chemical name: dimethyl-amino-ethanol) is available as a dietary supplement to enhance cognitive functioning, as well as reducing fatigue and depression.

In anti-aging treatments, Deanol helps in the stimulation of a chemical in our bodies (related to muscle contraction) called acetylcholine. Having higher levels of acetylcholine in our bodies means having firmer muscle tone. In other words, Deanol firms up the skin, and improve the appearance of saggy skin.

The four ingredients listed are just part of the long list of powerful ingredients in anti-aging skin care. With ever improving medicine and cosmetology, the benefits only get better.
