As stated earlier, red wines have remained popular not only because of their taste but also for the health benefits it offers. Red wines have proven to reduce the mortality rate; research studies reveal that moderate intake of red wine gives a protective effect. Further moderate consumption of wines is more beneficial than beer and even spirits. Results have revealed that red wines decrease the harmful effect of smoking that is caused on the endothelium layer of cells. Red wines offer a preventative measure for the coronary heart disease. It is believed that they red wines lower the production of low density cholesterol and enhance the production of high density lipoprotein cholesterol. It also produces an anti clotting action. Moderate consumers of wine have low levels of proteins fibrinogen (promotes blood clot formation). Red wine has favorable effects on hypertension, we are aware that alcohol is considered risky for hypertension but studies have shown some favorable results with regard to moderate consumption of wines for hypertensive people.
