Endometriosis 154 - Endometriosis and Curcuma Longa (turmeric)

As we mentioned in previous articles, endometriosis growing somewhere else other than the endometrium also reacts to hormonal signals of the monthly menstrual cycle by building up tissue, breaking it, and eliminating it through the menstrual period. As we know, herbs play a very important role in some cultures in treating all kinds of diseases. In this article, we will discuss how curcuma longa helps to treat endometriosis.

I. Definition
Curcuma longa is also known as turmeric. It is a plant of the ginger family (Zingiberaceae) and has been used as a coloring agent and to protect food products from sunlight. In India, curcuma longa is used as a medicine to reduce the possibility of infection caused by cuts, burns, and bruises.

II. How curcuma longa effects women with endometriosis
1. Liver strengthening
Curcuma longa is said to help strengthening the liver's function, thereby increasing the metabolism of fat and protein of the liver that not only helps to protect our organs in fighting inflammation of endometrial implants and adhesion, but also balance the estrogen levels that are the main cause of menstrual cramps.

2. Digestive system
Besides helping to increase the function of liver, it also helps in treating stomach disorder thereby improving the function of the digestive system in absorbing the vital vitamins and minerals for women with endometriosis during menstrual cycle.

3. Immune system
It also increases the immune system in fighting against the forming of free radicals caused by abnormality of cell growth resulting in cancer, endometrial implants, and adhesion in the abdomen. It's antioxidant property also increases the blood cell's ability in protecting our body from bacteria and virus invasion.

4. Nervous system
Curcuma Longa also contains substances that help to improve the cells in the nervous system that cause the memory loss and confusion symptoms of endometriosis.

Since endometriosis is treatable and manageable by natural remedies and a self help course, if you have endometroisis, please look on the bright side.
