The Okinawa Diet

The Okinawa diet is low in calories and fats, and mostly based on tofu, fish, vegetables, and rice. The main foods for this diet include vegetables, fruits, whole grains, tofu, soy milk, fish, seafood, red meat, dairy foods, tea, and a lot of water.

The Okinawa diet has a few principles that you should stick to in order to achieve the best results.

The first principle says that you should never eat more than you need. You should also choose low-calorie foods rich in vitamins and minerals. This diet, originally from island Okinawa, provides a daily calorie intake of 800 kcal per day.

You may choose rice, pasta, sweet corn, vegetables, fish, seafood, and all types of fruits except apricots, raisins, nuts, and peanuts. For the Okinawa diet you should consume fruits and vegetables every day. They contain vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, water, fibers, low amounts of calories, and give you a sense of fullness.

Don`t avoid spices, aromatic plants, and sea weed. The aromatic plants contain vitamins and minerals, the spices may protect against bacteria, and the sea weed has minerals, fibers, antioxidants, and vitamins.

At least three times per week you should consume fish and limit red meat consumption, dairy products intake, and avoid alcoholic beverages. Salt and sugar intake should also be reduced. Those who want to follow this diet should drink a lot of water and tea. This way they will clean their body from toxins.

Always talk to a specialist before starting a diet or fitness program.
