Why Women Need Natural Progesterone

In recent years it has been determined that synthetic hormone replacement therapy is not the great answer to menopausal symptoms that we thought it was. In fact, it can be dangerous. There is a lot of talk about how hormones affect aging in women.

The primary hormone that is discussed is estrogen. But estrogen is certainly not the only hormone in a woman's body and, in fact, progesterone is just as important as estrogen in the aging process. Natural progesterone can be very beneficial to your body in more than one way.

Natural progesterone isn't toxic nor does it cause an increase in the chance of disease if you take it at higher levels than what the body may typically produce. It has been shown that this hormone can keep breast cancer cells from multiplying as fast, providing possible protection against breast cancer.

Bone health is another area that natural progesterone will help. When women age, and because of their decreased progesterone production, their risk for osteoporosis increases. This can happen to younger women as well if they do not ovulate properly due to various factors.

Our bones are made up of osteoblasts and osteoclasts. New bone is built from osteoblasts that are stimulated into production by progesterone. On the other hand, osteoclasts, which are stimulated into production by estrogen, are responsible for the removal of old bone. So, as you can see, if you have a less than adequate progesterone supply, your body will be taking away old bone without the benefit of progesterone helping it to build new bone.

There are many other symptoms that natural progesterone can help with that include migraine headaches, hot flashes, night sweats, depression and ovarian cysts just to name a few!

Natural progesterone comes in pill form and also in a cream. It is easier to get natural progesterone cream because you do not have to have a prescription. These creams are easy to use - just rub them on a soft tissue area such as your inner arms or your chest. You use progesterone cream during certain days of the month depending on whether you are premenopausal or postmenopausal.
