How Any Woman Can Choose An Internet Business That Is Right For Her

One of the biggest obstacles most women face when they decide to start an internet business is "what kind of business should I start?" This is, in fact, the number one obstacle preventing women from realizing their dreams of working at home. Here is a quick breakdown of your options, and some important motivation to convince you that today is the day to choose.

This is an easy three step process. As you start your business, keep in mind that breaking down problems into smaller steps will almost always help you overcome procrastination. Trust me; I am the queen of procrastination!

First, make a list of everything you enjoy. I mean everything! Do not hold back, do not second guess your expertise, and do not stop to think whether this or that would make a good business. Just write it down. And then keep writing. If enough people are interested in it, there is a way to make money from it. Keep a notebook nearby over a couple of hours and write down everything that comes to mind. This list could be everything from computer tutoring to a craft you love, to helping older people with daily activities. If you enjoy it, then write it down. The key to building a successful business is to really enjoy what you do. If you don't, you probably won't stick with it.

Second step, narrow your choices down to your top four or five most favorite things. Not an easy task sometimes, but work on it. Once you have that list, look for topics that you feel have an unfilled or under filled need in this world. For instance, when I started The Budget Decorator, there were a lot of decorators out there. But, not many people were tackling the issue that I personally had, and that was decorating on a budget. (Of, course now that's all changed!) This is called "finding your niche". You want to take what you love, then find an area that needs a problem solved or more information shared.

Lastly, make sure there is a market for your topic. That is, make sure there are people out there besides you that need to know about your topic! Easy way to do this. You can get onto Google and punch in a couple of keywords related to your topic. Keywords are just the words you think people might use to search the internet for your subject. Let's say you are interested in soccer. You think there isn't enough info helping youth soccer coaches, so you do a search. You find lots of info on soccer, but maybe just one or two articles, and no websites devoted to soccer coaching. Light bulb go off? Now, there are more in depth ways of researching your market as discussed in my ebook, "How ANY Woman Can Learn to Make Money on the Internet", but this will give you a good indicator. Find out if there are people out there talking about and creating websites about your main topic (soccer) then find an area not saturated by competition (soccer coaching or just youth coaching). And if you research a subject, and find there is a ton of competition, you have two choices. You can either find a way to compete with the competition as I did and find an area they are NOT exploring, or you can go back to your list and find one of your other fav topics, and start again!

Why do you need to start today? Because if you don't do this today, nothing will change. If you don't make the decision today to move towards your dreams, tomorrow will be just like today. So, got your pen and paper? Good! Now when you're done, be sure to visit me at Women-on-the-Net.com so I can help you with your journey!
