Security Experts Top 10 Tips To Prevent Being Date Raped by Mark Yates The British American Security Expert

I have provided close protection services and threat management services for various clients in different countries who have been victims of rape and date rape incidents. These cases are without doubt extremely traumatic for the victim and the victim’s family members. I have also provided protection and security consultation services for victims of extremely violent rape cases some of which have escalated to deadly force situations.

In my experience one of the shocking aftermath problems of rape is that of fear. To understand fear, we should look back to a study conducted in the USA to determine which single word has the greatest psychological impact on people. Researchers offered words like spider, snake, death, rape, murder and incest, only to identify the word shark was the single most word which generated the greatest fear. Given the infrequency of shark attacks against people when one considers the number of recorded attacks to the population of the planet it is unnervingly strange.

Pressed further, the researchers identified it was the randomness of the shark attack and the lack of warning which created this fear factor. It is no coincidence that as with the shark attack the randomness and lack of warning are two of the attributes which many potential victims of date rape fear most. However most security experts will inform you that date rape is rarely random and rarely without warning.

Every human being has been blessed with natural defence mechanisms’, most people talk more about their gut feeling and that something is not quite right, or the hairs on the back of their neck stood on end when anxious. We just have to trust our natural defence mechanisms, because anxiety unlike real fear is always caused by uncertainty. By implementing your own personal security and safety strategies you will remove a great many uncertainties. This in turn will lead to increased levels of personal security and threat awareness levels.

1: Trust your intuition. Your intuition covers several aspects including but not limited to the following, gut reactions, curiosity, doubt, hesitation, suspicion, apprehension, fear and anxiety. If someone or some situation includes any of the above then it’s your own personal security mechanism warning you of potential danger. Listen to this and act accordingly by leaving the person or extracting yourself from the situation as soon as it’s safe to do so.

2: Never meet an aspiring Internet buddy for a date. If you are attracted to an Internet partner conduct background checks on them before giving out any of your personal details and definitely before arranging a face to face meeting. If the person is genuine which of course tens of thousands clearly are given the significant rise in the number of internet introduced weddings they will be happy to provide background details.

3: Never meet a stranger alone for a face to face date. Always bring a trusted friend along for the first meeting or two. If your date is genuine they will understand your personal security concerns.

4: Never accept a drink in a bar or nightclub from a date stranger. Unless you have personally witnessed the drink being poured by a bar staff member and the drink has never left your sight. Serial and/or organised date rapists will often spike the drinks of their intended victims in order to facilitate rape.

5: Never accept a ride home from a date stranger. Always pre-arrange your own trusted transportation home at a pre-determined time. Date rapists and rapists are typically cowards. If they realise you are in full control of your personal security measures they will generally leave you alone and seek out a softer target.

6: Never agree to visit a stranger’s home for whatever reason offered. Rapists and particularly date rapists will often offer all kinds of plausible reasons why they need you to visit their home. Don’t fall for it. If the relationship is genuine then there will be other opportunities to visit.

7: Date rapists are predators. Predators target soft targets. Confidence in your personal security is a great advantage. Take up a fighting martial arts hobby. You will learn so much more about your personal awareness and your levels of confidence levels will increase exponentially.

8: Understand it’s not your fault. A person has the legal right in most countries to refuse sexual intercourse by virtue of saying ‘no’ or stop.’ You will begin to question yourself as to ‘what if I had done this, or would this have happened if I had done that’. If you were clear that you refused to have consensual sex, and you were date raped then it is not your fault.

9: Purchase security awareness and personal safety training programmes for women from www.asecurityonestopshop.com every security expert understands there is no such concept as 100% security however reading through security manuals and reports will heighten your awareness and security levels.

10: Never fight back if the date rapist demonstrates any other levels of violence towards you. As soon as it’s safe to do so contact the police to report your rape attack. Make a mental note of everything you can relating to your rape. Do not go home first to clean up before visiting the police, as you will destroy vital forensic evidence.

Finally; when considering The Security Experts Top 10 Tips To Prevent Being Date Raped, Mark Yates strongly advises pre-planning your own personal safety and security action plan because every action you take causes a reaction. Implementing your own security issues elevates you into the top percentile of people who seek to minimise the risk to their personal safety.
