Grown, Sexy and Retired!

I recently celebrated my one-year retirement anniversary, which I called my “Grown, Sexy and Retired” Party!

My husband, Clayton, planned it for me and my sister and a few friends came out to help me celebrate.  We had such a nice time, we danced, and partied until almost closing time at the club.

I called it my Grown, Sexy and Retired party for three reasons!  First of all, I am grown!  My sister, Joyce, always said to me, when I was in my 4o’s, that I wasn’t really grown until I reached the age of 50!  Well, I am 53 now, so that makes me truly grown!  The sexy part is how I feel about myself!  Everyone, might not think that I am, but I don’t live for them, anyway!  (They’re just haters!).  And being retired is what I am!  Yea!

What I realized, though, is that being grown, sexy and retired, is now adding pressure on me!  I will give you some examples of what I’m referring to.  Being grown, to me, means ‘looking and acting your age’, but then when you add sexy to it, it almost changes that meaning.  It’s hard to look sexy and look your age at the same time, it’s almost  impossible to do!  Then being retired means you can look however you want, but then my reputation will be ruined, because now I’m not looking sexy….. to much pressure!  See what I mean?

This is, of course, my first year of being retired, in five or ten years, my party might be called, “Happy I still have my Sanity” Party!

There will be new pressure in my life by then.  My grandson, Robert, will be older and more demanding on his grandmother, for things, which I will be pressured to accommodate!  My husband, will be retired or close to retirement, so having him around on a daily basis will be total pressure!

Right now, I am very happy and content with being grown, sexy and retired!  This is a title I can live up to for the next 5 years or maybe longer, who knows!  The good thing about it is I don’t have to make any excuses for it!  There might be some that might want to challenge it, but I am ready for the showdown.  Just as long as its not having to dance 10 songs straight!  My body might not be able to handle that type of pressure!  Whoo boy!
