Richard Vanderhurst Expresses the Importance of Monitoring

span style="font-family: Verdana;">

Monitoring your rank may seem like the left over scraps of a pile of work, but it is no less important. Keeping your rank requires the same attention it took to get there. You should know that the World Wide Web is ever changing and flowing. Richard Vanderhurst teaches his students that new competitors will make attempts at bumping your ranks down, but you must stay vigilant in your monitoring and continue posting. The process consists of three basic, yet crucial points to maintaining that top spot. The first is, obviously, to monitor your rankings. You can do this one of three ways; either you can manually check your sites rank, utilize a software which automatically checks your rank for you, or you may want to use the available online services to do so.

As Richard Vanderhurst explains, time consumption is one of the main factors when choosing a method. Manually checking and online services can often be far lengthier than the simple use of software. But, this provides another problem. Rank-checking software may abuse the search engine’s system rules on how it is meant to run by conducting a number searches at one time. Either way, it is your choice which method you use, but rank checking must be done.

Links are another factor that must be monitored. In his class, Richard Vanderhurst instills his students with the knowledge that the links of your competitors are always growing; not in quality, but in quantity. When your site was completed, you had links that beat out your competitors. But who’s to say that theirs haven’t been growing since then, slowing creeping over you toward that top rank? Check and double check your links, make sure they are all still live and valid, and keep them in high numbers.

The last thing to be aware of when monitoring is the changes in the search engine environment. People are constantly posting on blogs and in forums, adding newsletters and upgrading content. New websites are being indexed everyday and expanding the search radius. Richard Vanderhurst’s students are taught to be wary of changes in the places search engines retrieve their results. Know the news and act accordingly.
