Marketing has one golden rule "Listen". We always pay attention to the requirements of our clients, but we are used to ignoring ourselves. Every day we take into account the consumers' wishes, fulfill the assignments set by the tutor, look for compromises with the suppliers, and take care about our personnel. Do we show such care for ourselves?
Most of us suffer daily torments and continue working without making a desirable break. We think that way we will finish the work faster. However it is not that easy as it may seem. So, what do I have to suggest? If your job suggests active mental work, you are to make regular pauses in it. For example, very often writing a college essay takes hours and closer to the end you wish to complete it as soon as possible, which is a very bad though frequent practice. Your brains need rest – something like a gulp of air - let it dive out from the depths of your thoughts, projects and reports. Engage yourself with something opposite, so that all your mental resources are absorbed in this activity. Changing the type of mental activity you will increase the efficiency of your work: you will make fewer mistakes; you will have higher level of self motivation; new creative ideas will come to your mind.
Such short breaks let your brains ‘breathe', and subconsciously you view these problems objectively and it is very important in routine work. I believe that rest should be totally engrossing. If it does not give a chance to divert from the problem, forget about the current issue - it does not allow you to take a detached view at the problem and find optimal solutions. You should schedule time for work and rest in your working hours. The rest should last for a strictly determined period of time. Otherwise either the work will kill you or you will waste the work. Rest as you please and don't blame yourself that you are losing time. Raising efficiency will more than surpass some minutes spent on the rest. After the effective and well planned rest you will complete any of your assignments with more inspiration and zest. Good or even brilliant idea will suddenly pop up in your head and the whole process will appear to be an enjoyable and interesting. A computer technology essay after a long and hard day will increase not your average, but a headache, nothing more. It is impossible to write a proper paper when your head is splitting into two because of over-exhaustion. And the last thing you should keep in mind about rest at work - you should take a break before you get tired and according to your schedule. You are not going to appear in the first columns of the newspapers under a sad headline ‘Another Victim Has burnt down at Work. Life is not only work'.
