Alright, writers and rejection go together like peanut butter and jelly on bread. To be honest, I am not even sure that there is a writer out there who has no experience with rejection. Some of the best writers in the history of the world have had extensive trouble in trying to get their writing accepted.
I would be inclined to assume that there have been some great writers who may have been discouraged due to rejection. Maybe even stopped writing all together because of it. Rejection can be hard to take. One thing anyone attempting a writing career must keep in mind, is that most rejection letters are really a "Not what were looking for right now" letter. The writing itself may be excellent work its just not what they are in for at that moment.
Many times rejection happens due to wrongful submissions regarding category or subject. Many writers out there today have no real understanding of how the writing industry works. This is a great disadvantage to work with. Your writing can be the best in the world but if it is not presented to the right readers it will not get accepted.
Most rejection letters are very brief and usually a standard typed template. So one important thing to consider is that you might actually have a "GOOD" rejection letter. If there is anything in the letter suggestive of personal attention then you should submit it again to another platform. If there is a compliment or suggestion of any kind that is like a gold star. It means someone actually read the whole piece and if circumstances were different then it would have been used. So if it doesn't look standard and really short, then do not take it too hard.
The best way to deal with rejection letters of any kind is to not take them personal at all and understand that they have an unlimited supply of material constantly coming in. It may very well be that you just missed the cut, unfortunately there is no reward for second place. If what doesn't get accepted today may be perfect for tomorrow. There is are so many outside circumstances and unrelated factors that affect the work.
The key is never give up and it really helps to KNOW the ins and outs of the industry.
Sometimes even bad writers get jobs due to knowing what they are up against and using every trick in the book and then some on top of serious persistence. So if you do get a rejection letter try to take it with a grain of salt. Think of it as a badge of Honor. Whatever you do, never give up. I have heard stories from famous writers that use to collect rejection letters. Seeing how many they could get. Now though, you can bet they are laughing about it.
Article writing is not really that much different nor is it any easier. Always keep in mind proofread, ALWAYS proofread, and if at first you don't succeed.I think you know the rest.
