Google just released a few things about the next version of Android, which arrives later this year and is known for now as Android O. On Tuesday google reviled a developer preview of the latest version of mobile operating system called Android O.
“Android O is coming to save you Phone’s battery Life”.
Android O places specific caps on three areas:
Implicit Broadcasts – Which wakeup background apps when you connect to Wi-Fi or take picture, it also limits the app what can do in background.
Android O updated developer previews will become available in the coming months, and developer will get a more detailed look at the OS at Google I/O.
More than battery life, Android O is expected to have clear app notification settings and the ability to allow picture in picture display. Most of the other new stuff is aimed at making Android better across devices and form factors.
It also supports third party calling apps, so you can call through WhatsApp or telegram and a new Auto fill API lets you use an app to fill in passwords, addresses, and more.
Android O Developer Preview has an updated SDK with system images available so it can be previewed on the official Android Emulator and on Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player, Pixel, Pixel XL and Pixel C. An emulator is also available for wearable, including Android Wear 2.0 and Android O.
No word yet on a roof-raisingly cool new feature like Assistant, but O offers enhancements that appear designed to help developers build apps for the entire Android ecosystem.
The major changes here are interesting because Android is the most widely used phone operating system in the world, with 88 percent of smartphone market share as of November, according per research firm Strategy Analytics.
